Mexico City

May 27-30, 2005: I traveled with John's family to Mexico City for Tom and Maria's wedding. We had a wonderful time and packed a lot into our short visit thanks to Uncle Bob, Tom and Maria.

Highlights of the trip include the wedding, of course, and a fascinating tour of artist Frida Kahlo's home (now a museum) and the Teotihuacan pyramids.

Our Hotel: The Majestic

We stayed in the heart of historic downtown, overlooking the Plaza de la Constitucion.

The Wedding Reception

The reception was held in the rooftop restaurant of our hotel. Great food, music, dancing and tequila.

Scenes from Mexico City

We weren't allowed to take pictures inside the Frida Kahlo museum, but we did get some shots of murals painted on the walls of the National Palace by her husband, artist Diego Rivera.

Tour of the Teotihuacan Pyramids

Before the pyramid tour we visited a site where masks and other objects are carved from volcanic rock. We also learned about the versatile Agave plant.
